Originally named “John Sinclair” after Detroit’s famous poet/activist, the variety we now know as Red Congolese was all the talk of the 2007 Cannabis Cup (though it only won 4th place in the ‘Sativa’ category).

While the breeder Reeferman has fallen from contemporary consciousness, his work lives on in the exceptional Red Congolese—a shining and rare specimen of the best of ‘old world’ landrace sativas, tamed with a slight touch of indica to make them manageable for the contemporary indoor grower lucky enough to have a cutting.

For the consumer it a wonderful example of the lucid, thought provoking effects that sativa-types can offer. Flavors can be leathery, spicy or as Reeferman himself proclaims, “sandalwood and honey with a hint of haze.”
